Sherrod Banks Awarded 2025 Law Honoree for the Business North Carolina Power List 2025

The Banks Law Firm, P.A. (“TBLF”) proudly announces that its Founder and President, Sherrod Banks, has been recognized as a 2025 Law Honoree for the Business North Carolina Power List 2025. This notable recognition highlights Mr. Banks’ outstanding contributions to the legal profession, affordable housing, and community development.

Commitment to Affordable Housing & Community Economic Development

As a reflection of this commitment, the firm closes its doors for two days each year to provide volunteer support for the Triangle Golf Challenge, an event that raises funds and awareness for programs assisting first-time homebuyers as they transition from public assistance to private homeownership. Through this initiative and many others, Mr. Banks and the firm continue to champion equity, empowerment, and opportunity in the communities they serve.

“It’s an honor to be recognized among many of North Carolina’s most respected leaders,” Said Sherrod, “This honor reflects not only my personal journey, but also the skills and dedication of our entire team at The Banks Law Firm. We remain committed to advancing affordable housing, fostering community development, and creating pathways to opportunity in the communities we serve.”

Triangle Golf Challenge

In 2000, Sherrod Banks started The Banks Foundation. This was an organization assisting families who were moving from welfare to work and from public housing to private homeownership. Additionally, in 2003, The Banks Foundation began holding annual golf tournaments to raise funds for the mission. The board approved expanding the Tournament to support additional Triangle-area charities in 2013. The board also renamed the event the Triangle Golf Challenge.

Over the years, the Foundation has provided down payment assistance to families who have qualified to purchase their first home. It has also supported numerous Triangle-area charities over the years. These organizations include Communities In Schools-Durham, The Triangle Aphasia Project, and the Hayti Heritage Center, among others.
