Ms. Rubinstein practices in the areas of affordable housing and community economic development law.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rubinstein provided support and advice to North Carolina law firms regarding corporate, real estate, litigation, and contracts questions arising under North Carolina and federal law. Before relocating to North Carolina, Ms. Rubinstein practiced law in New Orleans with Proskauer Rose, LLP, and McCalla Thompson Pyburn Hymowitz & Shapiro. Her practice focused on ERISA litigation and labor and employment law. In New York, Ms. Rubinstein practiced corporate law with the Long Island Lighting Company.
While at Proskauer, Ms. Rubinstein received a Golden Gavel award for her pro bono work with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. Her legal writing was recognized in Bloomberg Law Quarterly as a best featured article.
Ms. Rubinstein received her Juris Doctor degree from Columbia University Law School in New York. She graduated from Brown University, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Russian Studies. Ms. Rubinstein served for many years as the Louisiana Area Co-Chair of the Brown Alumni Schools Committee.
Prior to law school, Ms. Rubinstein worked as a journalist in New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
Ms. Rubinstein is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, Louisiana, and New York. She is admitted to the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Sixth, Ninth, and Tenth Circuits, and to all United States District Courts in Louisiana.
