Mr. Hix graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oregon in 2004, and received his Juris Doctor from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 2010. At Northwestern, Mr. Hix was a staff writer on the Northwestern Journal of International Human Rights and a member of the Latino Law Students Association.

Mr. Hix is a litigator with a practice focused on commercial and employment litigation. He has extensive experience in motions practice, brief-writing, and managing discovery in a range of commercial disputes before state courts and federal district and appellate courts. Before joining the Firm, he practiced for six years at a large firm in Washington, D.C., specializing in white collar defense and commercial litigation, and for one year at a nonprofit in Raleigh, NC, working on systemic litigation to expand public services for North Carolinians with disabilities. Mr. Hix also has substantial experience representing pro bono clients in the area of immigration law. He was the lead drafter of an amicus brief in an immigration case before the United States Supreme Court and counsel to a detained green-card holder who won his appeal of a deportation order before a federal appellate court.

Mr. Hix is a graduate of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s Pathfinder program, an intensive training program for diverse, high-potential, early-career attorneys. He is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and Washington, D.C.
