Mr. Pristell represents and advises clients in the areas of higher education and affordable housing and community economic development. Throughout his career, Eric has provided accessible counsel and concrete solutions to his clients.
Eric leads the Firm’s Higher Education practice. Under Eric’s leadership, the Firm has also created a focus in the representation of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and HBCU foundations as both general counsel and development counsel. He has provided counsel to clients in the areas of corporate governance, operations, real estate acquisition and finance (student housing and commercial development, including public-private partnerships), regulatory compliance and accreditation matters.
Eric began his legal career in the Firm’s Affordable Housing and Community Economic Development practice group. He continues to work with clients in this area, routinely representing nonprofits and public housing authorities as well as state and local municipalities in connection with public/private partnership economic development projects, bond issuances, including HOPE VI mixed finance and RAD transactions. Mr. Pristell serves as general, issuer’s, developer’s, borrower’s and bond counsels in connection with these clients and transactions.
Mr. Pristell graduated with honors from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature. He received his Juris Doctor Degree from Loyola University Chicago.
He is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, National Association of Bond Lawyers, American Bar Association Business Law Section and Affordable Housing and Community Economic Development Law Forum.
Mr. Pristell is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, Georgia, the District of Columbia and Virginia.
