Mr. Edwards is a principal with the TBLF and he leads the Firm’s commercial litigation practice. Mr. Edwards handles a wide variety of litigation matters including construction litigation; business disputes, affordable housing; products liability, and environmental matters. Mr. Edwards is also a certified mediator and has an active mediation practice. Mr. Edwards is known for providing clients with an early, honest, and accurate assessment of their case so that wise decisions can be made regarding how the case should be resolved. Mr. Edwards graduated from Duke University with a double major in Political Science and Sociology.  He also received his Juris Doctor degree from the Duke University School of Law.

In 2002, Edwards was selected by Triangle Business Journal for its “40 Under 40” list that recognizes outstanding Research Triangle leaders under 40 years of age. In 2004, North Carolina Lawyers Weekly profiled him in its series on “Up and Coming Lawyers in North Carolina. In 2006, Edwards was awarded the William L. Thorpe Pro Bono Attorney Award by the North Carolina Bar Association, which recognizes attorneys who provide exceptional pro bono legal assistance to low-income citizens in North Carolina. In 2011, he was selected for the North Carolina Bar Association’s Citizen Lawyer Award, which honors attorneys for exemplary public service activities. In 2012, Edwards served as President of the Wake County Bar Association. He served as a member of the North Carolina State Bar Council from 2013 to 2022. In 2024, he received the John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award from the North Carolina State Bar. This award “honors current and retired members of the North Carolina State Bar throughout the state who have demonstrated exemplary service to the legal profession.”

Mr. Edwards’ community involvement is extensive.  He serves as the Teaching Leader of the Durham Men’s Class of Bible Study Fellowship, Inc. He is Chair of the Board of Directors of Central Children’s Home of North Carolina, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina; the North Carolina Housing Coalition; the National Institute for Minority Economic Development, and NC IOLTA (Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts). He was a founding member of the United Minority Contractors of North Carolina. Previous board positions include past president of the Wake County Bar Association, past president of the African-American Real Estate Professionals of North Carolina, past chair of the Young Lawyers Division of the North Carolina Bar Association, past president of the Construction Professionals Network of North Carolina (CPN), past member of the Disciplinary Hearings Commission of the North Carolina State Bar, and past chair of the Lawyers Assistance Program and the Client Security Fund of the North Carolina State Bar.
